Generally your hair needs to be at least 1/4 of an inch, or approximately the length of a grain of rice. Typically it takes about 2 weeks of no hair removal of any kind for enough hair to grow for us to remove. Hair that is shorter than 1/4 of an inch may not be long enough to be picked up by the wax and be removed. We can typically perform a test strip or continue with the service if the hair is not all long enough-the end result just might not be as perfect. Minimal hairs left after waxing can also be removed by tweezing. 

No! Our technique of waxing will remove hair even better if the hair is longer! 

We recommend wearing loose-fitting and breathable clothing, which will cause less friction and/or sweating after your service. 

While the pain from a wax can occur, it is typically intense but subsides rather quickly. Everyone's pain tolerance varies, but most clients express that it didn't hurt nearly as much as they were anticipating! Consistently waxing will reduce the pain over time for most clients. 

Typically the most painful areas to wax are brazilians, upper lip, chest (not areolas), the sides of your abdomen, and hairline. This will vary for each person, and typically consistent waxing hurts much less than your very first time for an area. 

Typically the least painful areas to wax are underarms, nose, brow, areolas, and glutes. Typically as you wax more consistently, the pain does decrease as your hair growth decreases. 

Some clients find that taking a dose of ibuprofen before their appointment makes the process more tolerable. Also allowing your hair to grow more than just 1/4 of an inch will reduce your pain as we will not have to go over the area multiple times. Consistent waxing is a MAJOR key to reducing the pain level of your appointment. 

Every client is a little different. At the start of your waxing journey, you may have hair regrowth after 1-2 weeks. After you have been waxing 3-6 months you will typically have hair regrowth after the 2 week mark. It is important to know that these are estimates and these time fames will ultimately depend on how long you have been waxing, how many active hair follicles you have, your after care, whether or not you’re shaving in between, the texture of your hair and how fast it grows, etc. 

Most clients are ready to wax again at 4 weeks for bikini/brazilian, 5 weeks for backs, 3 weeks for lower legs and underarms, 2-5 weeks for facial hair, and 4-6 weeks for upper legs.

No, actually the opposite will occur! When you wax, the hair is removed at the root which weakens the hair follicles. Over time this may cause your hair to grow back thinner and finer.

Some clients will be more prone to an ingrown hair than others. Some potential causes of an ingrown hair can be improper technique, tight clothing, sweat/oils, bacteria getting into the follicle, synthetic materials (such as lace, spandex, and nylon), friction, dead skin, dry skin, or not following proper aftercare protocol.

Typically your first time (or when it's been longer than 8 weeks) requires more wax to be used and more scheduled time than a maintenance appointment would. 

Sometimes you can experience some residual hair texture or a change in skin texture depending on the condition of your hair and skin. Dry skin is not optimal for waxing as breakage can occur, and the dry skin can cause your hair follicles to be slightly irritated. This is why it is important to exfoliates and moisturize regularly. Your hair's natural growth cycle may also effect how your skin feels after a service. Sometimes it takes a couple of months to get your hair on the same cycle and for all the hair to be removed with the wax. 

Of course! We do require that you wear a tampon or menstrual cup for sanitary reasons. You may experience more sensitivity while you are on your period.
